Fluorocarbons are inert (nonreactive) liquid or gaseous compounds used in aerosol propellants, refrigerants, solvents, lubricants, plastics and resins.

The danger in using fluorocarbons is that they can cause skin irritation and can affect the nervous system, causing symptoms similar to drunkenness. Fluorocarbons also contribute to climate change due to their ability to deplete stratospheric ozone.
