Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are detailed documents prepared by the manufacturer or importer of a chemical that describes information about the physical and chemical properties of the chemical and its potential effect on humans. An MSDS provides information on physical and health hazards, routes of exposure, precautions for safe use and handling, control measures, and emergency and first-aid procedures.
The information on an MSDS helps during the selection of safe products and helps prepare employers and their employees respond effectively to emergency situations and daily exposure situations.
*Every employee working with chemicals has a right to see the MSDSs for the substances they work with.
